Alfond After School program.

The Second Annual Exhibit and Contest open to all Waterville area children under 18. Boys and Girls Club members have a special place in this, but all children are invited to enter and eligible to win!


Submission Deadline: March 27th


This Event Is Organized and Sponsored by the Greater Waterville Area Boys and Girls Club and YMCA and the North End Boys and Girls Club.


CONTEST RULES AND FORMAT:

Age Categories:
9 and under; 10-12; 13-15 and 16-18.

Format:
Color Film; Black and WhiteFilm; Color Digital; Black and White Digital (no computer manipulation); Alternative, like Polaroid or pinhole and a special essay category with your favorite photo and an essay capturing the idea of Community Effort Through Photography.

This year, any photograph taken after April 2009 may be entered. Exhibit entrants are limited to two photos apiece in each of the categories.

SHOW US WHAT YOU'VE GOT!

This year, any photo you have taken since last April may be entered into the contest

How to Participate:
Talk to your art teacher. We have asked them to play a key role in this second annual contest. They can help you pick your best photos. Teachers will also know how to get developing cost help for those who need it (hint: Elm City photo). You can also talk to program staff at the Alfond Youth Center. They will point you in the right direction and be a place to turn in your photosOr you can call Steve Aucoin at 873-5686 at the North End BGC. He will be setting this up again this year.You can get help and encouragement from others but remember, these are your photographs and you are the photographerWe would like all photos to be 8 x 10 or smaller. We will mat them all in the same way. No photo will have a photographer's ID until after the judging.


HOW PHOTOS ARE SCORED!

Four photography professionals will use the following criteria: 5 points for Originality; 5 points for Composition; 5 points for Technical Expertise and 10 points for Impact

        

It's at the Hathaway again this year! Got Time? Volunteer to Help Hang the Exhibit!


THIS IS REALLY TWO CONTESTS IN ONE!

Anyone under 18 can enter pictures into the local exhibit and be eligible for prize awards in all categories or ages. Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention.The best photos by Boys and Girls Club members will be sent on to the 2010 regional competition scheduled for May. Location to be announced.
